Farmhouse. Early C17. Timber framed and rendered, pantiled roof. 3-cell
form. 2 storeys and attic. 3 windows, 4-light mullion and transom casements
without glazing bars. Smaller cross windows over each doorway are mid C20
insertions. 2 doorways in lobby and cross-entry positions: panelled doors
with mid C20 gabled open-fronted porches. Stack has square shaft of narrow
brick. External stack against left gable end. Jettied gable to right. 2-
storey rear additions with shallow-pitched roofs; the section of the main
range between has 2 late C19 sash windows with coloured margin glazing.
Interior. Victorianised, with most of structure concealed. Chamfered joists,
set flat, in hall; on-edge joists at service end. Late C19 straight stair in
lower bay of hall; original newel attic stair. Roof has 2 rows of butt
purlins; 2-way wind bracing to upper row. Evidence for at least 2 dormers in
front slope. Remains of medieval moat.
