OLD NEWTON WITH DAGWORTH

Farmhouse, early C17 with probably earlier core. Main range: 2 storeys. 3
windows. Timber-framed and plastered. Plaintiled roof; C19 bargeboards with
spike finials. An internal end C17 chimney to left with a sawtooth shaft of
red brick. Another axial chimney with sawtooth shaft in the rear range to
right. 3-light casements renewed c.1980 at 1st storey; a pair of splayed bays
with slated roofs at ground storey. At right-hand gable, the tiebeam
oversails in the late C16/early C17 manner. To rear is a lower service wing
probably of C16 origin. Interior not examined.
