House, now 2 dwellings. Early to mid C17 with additions of 1720 and late C19.
'TE 1720' in iron letters on shaped gable to front. Timber frame, plastered
with red brick extensions. Plaintiled roofs. 2 bays to rear right are
earliest, 1 storey and attic. Attached to front is 2 bay, 2 storey and attic
1720 block. Attached to left at right angles to form a T on plan is 2 bay, 2
storey and attic late C19 range. 1720 block projects forward to right,
recessed glazing bar sashes with gauged brick flat arched heads, 2 on each
floor and a 2-light attic casement with a segmental head. Shaped gable has
kneelers, lower convex curves, steps to upper concave curves to a rounded
head. Right return extruded stack, entrance and a 6-light C19 casement. Rear
gable end stack, rebuilt in C19 with panelled shaft. This stack also serves
lower C17 bays with C20 casements and a raking dormer, steep pitch to roof,
lean-to added to rear. Late C19 bays are set back to front left, entrance to
right, 5 panelled door in an open porch with shaped timber uprights, raking
tiled head, to left a 4-light canted bay window. Two 2-light half dormers
with bargeboarded gablets. Left end shaped gable following C18 model, moulded
brick window cornice and gable. To rear left a short wing with another shaped
gable to rear, stacks with panelled shafts. Interior: early bays have axial
and cross axial binding beams, straight tension braces, diamond mullioned 3-
light opening, clasped purlin roof with collars, halved principals.
