Shown on OS Map as Back Street. Farmhouse. Early to mid C17, altered C20.
Timber frame, plastered. Steeply pitched pantiled roofs. 2 bays to front
with 3 bays at right angles to form an L on plan. 2 storeys and attics.
Parlour and stack bays to left have 2 and 3-light leaded casements, transomed
to parlour. Axial ridge stack to right of centre has fillets to front and
back, rebuilt capping. Projecting slightly to right is gable front of hall
and service bays; similar windows, coving to oversailing attic, bargeboards.
Right return has a half glazed door into hall, a stable door into kitchen to
rear, C20 casements and lean-to outshut. Internal axial ridge stack to
kitchen to rear, lean-to dairy replacing an earlier wing on rear gable end.
Parlour left gable end has brackets to exposed plate to oversailing attic. To
rear a C19 panelled door into parlour, catslide roof over a lean-to behind
stack bay with a half glazed door, inner return of lean-to has a panelled
door. Interior: frame largely concealed, some good studding with chamfered
mid-rails, stop chamfered binding beams, late C17 and C18 panelling in parlour
with an C18 cornice, newel staircase in front of stack. Butt purlin roof with
chamfered principals, arched windbraces.
