SU 20 NE LYNDHURST BANK

6/34 Olde Cottage

GV II

Cottage. Late C17, greatly enlarged early C20. Timber-frame with plastered infill,
old plain tile roof, enlargement in matching materials. 1½ storey, 2 bay cottage
with matching link bay to bottom of T-shaped 2 storey Vernacular Revival block.
Road front has older part at RH end, with plank door at LH of end bay inside yew
hedge 'porch'. Either side 2-light casement and similar over in eyebrow dormer
raised into hood. Link bay has plank door under hipped hood on posts to LH and
4-light casement with similar over in eyebrow dormer. Beside is narrow bay of
2-storey stem of T. 2-light casement on ground floor, 4-light casement right across
1st floor. Roof over has bellcast hip with gablet at top. To LH is projecting
gabled end of top of T. 4-light casement on ground floor. Jettied 1st floor with
4-light oriel window under overhanging gable with raised eaves. Stacks at RH
end and at junction of ridges of taller part.
