SU 52 NE BRAMDEAN HINTON HILL

5/17 Hinton Ampner Place
5.12.55 (formerly listed as The Old
GV II* Rectory)

House, formerly rectory. Circa 1712-17 wing added C20. Brick with many blue bricks,
old plain tile roof. 5 bay, 2 storey and attic, and 2½ bay, 2 storey extension to
left, slightly set back. On projecting plinth with-rusticated brick quoins at
corners. Central doorway with 2 stone steps and wrought iron rails. Painted stone
doorcase of rusticated Doric pilasters and entablature with unfluted triglyph
frieze. Door has large top panel with 2 small panels below, above rectangular
fanlight with diamond panes. Either side 2 tall 15-pane sashes with rubbed brick
heads. 1st floor string course, starting as quoin at each end. Above 5 12-pane
sashes with small rubbed brick heads. Windows in bay to right of door moved and
ground floor windows to left rebuilt. Simply moulded boxed eaves. On roof 2
hipped dormers with 2-light casements. Roof hipped with symmetrical stacks on
hips. C20 wing on lower level. 2½ bays sash windows with Dutch arches, narrow
sash above door in half bay. Roof comes out of main roof, hipped with 2 stacks
on hip.
