Small country house. C17, refronted C18 with earlier core. Remains of timber-frame
rebuilt in brick C17 with C18 brick front, old plain tile roof. Earlier timber
building rebuilt C17 as 3 gabled brick house, and at right end, end wall, rear
right gable and projecting bay on right end survive, the met being rebuilt C18.
Front C18, 5 bays 2 : 1 : 2, 2 storey on plinth. 6-panel central door, upper panels
glazed in doorcase of fluted Doric pilasters and entablature with triglyph frieze and
modillioned cornice. Above venetian window with stone sill and clustered key block
to Dutch arch, under bracketed and mouldedsediment supported on sections of
entablature with triglyph frieze. Outer bays have on each floor 12-pane sash with
stone sill and rubbed brick arch. Each end stepped back a bay, single bay wing; in
right wing 2 16-pane sashes and external gable stack, in left bay early C19 door,
2 3-light camber headed casements and gable stack. Main roof hipped, with dentilled
eaves either side of pediment and on wings. Large brick stack behind ridge on hip
ridges.
