Late C18. Early C19 alterations to windows and door. Modern additions
at east side. On site of King Alfred's Nunnaminster (Abbey of Benedictine
Nuns). North front to Hight Street, 2 storeys red brick with battlemented
parapet and 2 small 4-storey towers at corners (symmetrical). Tile roof.
Ground floor central door, 2 Gothic windows and 2 slits, string course
oover. 1st floor central oriel window and 2 other windows. Door and
windows inserted early C19. South front to garden C18, Two tripartite
sashes on ground floor, five sashes with glazing bars above. Cornice,
parapet, pediment over the large hipped tile roof. Six-panel door with
pedimented surround at side.
