House. C16 with mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations and additions. Timber-
framed, rendered infill, plain tiled roofs and large brick chimney to
main ridge with four star-shaped stacks and rebuilt combined cap; also
ridge stack to east end main ridge. U-shaped plan; main range on east/
west axis of three framed bays with lobby entry formed by chimney in
west end bay; cross-wing of three framed bays at west gable end and also
single bay addition at rear of east end bay; partly two storeys, partly
single storey and attic with dormers. Framing: irregular, mainly three/
four panels from sill to wall-plate; short, straight braces in upper
corners; collar-and-tie-beam trusses with queen struts, left gable end
has three collars, large gabled dormer to left front bay having two
collars and west end cross-wing front gable end with a single collar and
a V-strut in the apex. Front elevation: scattered fenestration; main range
has a ground floor 2-light casement and a paired 2- and 3-light casement;
the large, gabled dormer at the left end has a 3-light casement and above
the central bay is a small, gabled dormer with 2-light casement; in the
right end bay is a ledged and battened door. In the cross-wing gable end
is a ground floor 3-light casement and a first floor 2-light casement.
The left gable end fronting onto the Worcester Road has a ground floor
3-light casement and attic light; the single bay adjoining to the left
appears to have had the roof raised during the mid-C19 when an additional
row of panels was added, and has an early C19 multi-paned canted oriel
window with moulded architraves, a first floor 3-light casement and a
part-glazed door with a flat canopy on shaped brackets. Interior not
inspected.
