II
Large house C16, C17 and C19. Low C16 timber-framed centre flanked by very tall early
C17 banded blue lias stone East block and later C19 blue lias stone West block. Plain
tile roofs. Eastern block 3 1:2-storeys, gabled to North and South with C19
bargeboards. Large East side outside stack with 3 renewed diagonal shafts and
internal East side stack with paired brick shafts rising between 2 stone dormer
gables. On West side another large triple stack. Stone mullioned windows with
hoodmoulds; East side two 2-light windows to attic dormer gables, two 3-light to 2nd
floor, 1st floor one 2-light to left of main stack, 2-light, 3-light and 4-light
windows to right. Ground floor panelled door with rectangular fanlight with inter-
secting glazing bars, and to right paired C18 sash windows under C17 hoodmould and one
20 pane window, also under hoodmould. South gable end has lower barn range built
against, but original 3-light 2nd floor window and 2-light attic window are visible.
North gable end is similar, with also 4-light 1st floor window and ground floor door.
On West side at rear 2 paired 2-light ground floor windows, 3-light 1st floor window
and single light with shallow arched head.
Range running West: blue lias stone ground floor and timber-framed lst floor exposed
on North front. Heavy square framing, brick infill. Small original exposed on North
front. Heavy square framing, brick infill. Small original wood 2-light window in
East corner and renewed 2-light and 3-light wood 1st floor windows. Ground floor
renewed leaded windows. C19 West end, 2-storey and attic, gabled to North and South
and with central gable on West front. Stone mullion and transom windows. Projecting
porch on North side, 2-storey and gabled. Red brick paired chimney stacks.
In West wing an early C17 stone fireplace moved from Charletts, Cleeve Prior when
demolished.
