House, hotel at time of listing. C14, with some mid-C19 and mid-C20 alterations. Timber-frame with rendered infill on a rendered plinth under a tile roof. Four bays aligned east/west, the western bay jettied to the front and side (south and west), the bay to the east of the centre also jettied. South front of two storeys, the two un-jettied bays with coving to the eaves, only half of which survives in left-hand bay. Two fixed casements to left, and two 3-light case in the right-hand jettied bay. Ground floor has four 3-light casements. Entrance to right of centre has four-centred head and a C20 two-leaf door. Framing: ground floor has a moulded plate. The left-hand corner has a dragon beam with a diagonally set curved bracket rising from a moulded capital. Wall-frames are two square panels high to each floor. The left-hand end has cusped angle braces. The west gable-end truss is C19, but the eastern end retains a cusped roof. The building probably extended further to the east. (RCHM, 3, p 201, no 38).
