Farmhouse. Probably C17 with later alterations. Sandstone rubble and
timber-frame with plaster infill. Tiled roofs and sandstone rubble end
stacks. H-plan with main front to south-east. Cellar, two storeys and
attic. South-east elevation has 1:1:1 windows, with roughly symmetrical
projecting gable fronts to left and right, both with closely-set studding
to first floors and attics. Left gable has 2-light mid-C20 casement to
attic beneath V-struts. First floor and ground floors each have a central
glazing bar sash. Ground floor is finely coursed sandstone rubble. Right
gable has similar attic casement to that of other gable. First floor has
3-light window with 4-pane sashes. Ground floor has 3-light glazing bar
casements set in rendered walling with ashlar lines. Cill beam, above
first floor window, and tie are moulded. The tie is supported by curved
brackets, with acanthus decoration, rising from corner posts. Centre has
glazing bar sash above four-panelled door with transom light. The two
gables are linked by a corrugated iron and perspex canopy over the entrance.
North-west elevation has two projecting gables and framing with four rectangular
panels from cill to wall-plate. Interior inaccessible at time of resurvey
(February 1987). (RCHM, Vol II, p 48).
