House, once converted into 3 dwellings. C15 with C17 additions and later
alterations. Part timber-framed with either rendered or painted brick infill
panels, tiled roofs and large, external rubble chimney to east elevation with
3 octagonal brick shafts and combined cap. Former cruck hall house, from
which 3 pairs of crucks survive; 4 bays with large arch-braces in east and west
elevation of south end bay; arched doorway in east elevation now infilled with C20
door and brick surround. North end bay probably rebuilt in C17 when 2 bay parlour
and single bay east wing added. Main part is single storey and attic and 4
gabled dormers with tile-hung cheeks to both east and west elevations; parlour
has 2 storeys and attic; east wing is single storey and attic. Irregular
fenestration; windows are C20 casements. Entrance elevation has 6 ground
floor casements, 4 gabled dormers, and doorway in upper bay of main part,
having a C20 timber door. Interior C17 additions have tie-beam trusses;
east wing has interrupted tie-beam truss abutting main part; stop chamfered
main beams. C15 part extensively remodelled; central hearth with rebuilt
brick stack.
