SO 33 SE ABBEY DORE CP -

5/10 Hill Farmhouse

Farmhouse. Possibly C17 with early C19 and late C20 alterations. Timber-
frame with plaster infill, sandstone rubble, brick, tiled roof, rubble and
brick external end stacks. Rectangular plan with two bays aligned roughly
east/west. One storey and attic. South elevation has one window, mid-C20
3-light casements under segmental heads to left-hand gable front, one 3-
light late C20 casement to right set in contemporary brickwork, ledged late
C19 door with square glazed panel and segmental head to right-hand side of
gable front, passageway to extreme right. North elevation has one 12-paned
casement to left-hand side and exposed square timber-framing which is three
panels high from cill to wall-plate; to the left is an apsidal bread oven set
against external stack and curiously overlapping south portion of building.
Interior has ceiling beams with run-out chamfer stops (RCHM Vol I-I p 11).
