Farmhouse. Early C17 with mid-C18 and mid-C19 alterations. Timber-framed
with brick infill on sandstone base, partly rebuilt in brick and with some
brick refacing; plain tiled roofs. Hall and cross-wing plan; hall part aligned
roughly north/south rebuilt in brick and of two bays; framed single-bay wing
to rear of north bay; cross-wing at north gable end is of two framed bays;
large chimney with brick ridge stack at junction of hall and cross-wing.
Two storeys and attic; two-course band between storeys of hall part.
Framing: north side of cross-wing has four panels from sill to wall-plate;
two rows-of panels at first floor level at rear; collar and tie-beam trusses
with struts; cross-wing trusses have long struts with rails and V-strut in
in apex. East front elevation: main part has a ground floor 3-light and 2-
light casement -(both are C20 windows inserted into smaller openings with
cambered heads); two first floor 2-light C20 casements; cross-wing gable end
has a 3-light C20 casement on both main floors, an attic light and the main
entrance to left with a ledged and battened door. Interior: large fireplace
in ground floor of east bay of cross-wing. Some original doors retained.
A C19 outbuilding adjoining the cross-wing to the north-west is not of special
architectural interest.
