Barn, stable and shelter shed. C17 with later alterations. Timber-framed
and weatherboarded on brick and sandstone base; plain tiled roofs. Four
framed bays aligned east/west; wagon bay situated in third bay from west
end and has opposed cart entries with double doors. Partly two levels.
Framing not visible externally. South elevation: two upper level 2-light
windows and a door to left of wagon bay; stable door to right of wagon
bay. Weathervane on ridge between bays 3 and 4. Interior: two and three
panels from sill to wall-plate, short straight braces in upper corners;
collar and tie-beam trusses with raking struts and V-strut in apex at ends;
three intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking struts, single tier of
trenched purlins. A single-bay brick addition adjoins the west gable end
which is slightly lower in height. Stable: adjoins east gable. end of barn
continuing roof ridge; timber-framed with brick infill and some weatherboarding
on brick and sandstone base; slate roof. Two framed bays; two levels; two
stable doors, two windows and loft door in south elevation. Interior: three
panels from sill to wall-plate, long straight braces across lower corners,
trusses not visible. Shelter shed adjoins barn to south-west. Timber-framed
with brick infill; half-hipped plain tiled roof. Six framed bays. Rear west
wall has two rows of panels from sill to wall-plate; truncated collar and tie-
beam trusses with struts at ends; intermediate tie-beam trusses with raking
struts. East elevation has brick infill with inserted door and window in
south bay.
