House, now two shops and flats. Early C17, cased 1722, with mid-C19 and
some mid-C20 alterations. Timber-frame clad in rendered brick with tile
roof. Three storeys, brick coped verges and parapet, bands to first and
second floors, central lead drain pipe with decorative rainwater head
inscribed "1722/ LR"; four windows: 4-pane boxed sashes; second floor:
as first floor; ground floor: central passage entered by partially glazed
door, shop front to left: pilastered with brackets to cornice, recessed
central entrance with 2-leaf half-glazed door flanked by a 3-pane window
each side; shop to right: flat canopy over 3-pane shop window, with
entrance to right which has a half-glazed door and overlight. Interior:
first floor front room of no 35 has an elaborate plaster ceiling of six
panels, four of which retain their decorative scheme, probably early C17;
the beams are also plastered; the staircase has a moulded handrail and
pierced carved balusters.
