Church. 1778 by Nicholas Revett for Sir Lyonel Lyde. Grecian
Revival. Painted stucco on red brick. Portland stone stylobate
and dressings. Tetrastyle Doric order temple front, linked to
small square open-pedimented pavilions by screens with 2-column
openings. Large and small columns with revealed fluting at tops
and bottoms of shafts. Square coffered portico ceiling and large
door surround with pilasters in antis enclosing smaller surround
and 8-panel double doors. Greek-cross plan interior with
continuous pilasters below windows, breaking to Ionic screen at W
vestibule. 9-panel coffered nave ceiling. E end has coffered
semidome and square recesses. Original organ in S transept.
Font in portico and funerary urns in pavilions. (Pevsner (1977)).
