Large house. C18 or earlier rear wing and kitchen, front block has
inscribed stone plaque 'FLAMSTEAD HOUSE/The East front/ Erected by/
JOHN COLLINS/in the year 1782'. S wing early C19. Extensive alterations,
bay windows and roughcast to E front in 1920s. Red brick, roughcast at E
front, hipped slate roofs. A large L-shaped house facing E with tall
single-storey rear kitchen wing to 2 storeys front block with 2-storeys
extension in NW angle for dining room, and long 2-storeys S block
facing W into yard at rear. Symmetrical 3-windows long front block with
central entrance on E. Recessed sash windows with 6/6 panes. Stucco
plinth. Stone tablet about 30cm square near S end. Greek Doric porch on
2 columns with full entablature and low pitched triangular pediment.
Minor order in jambs of doorway support architrave below 3-lights
fanlight with rounded corners to lights. 2 4-panels divided doors. Flat
soffit to eaves. Long range to S has 2-storeys half-octagonal bay window
with small-panes casements. Irregular fenestration and brick lean-to.
Similar 2-storeys bay added to N end of front block with casements and
parapet. 2-storeys, 3 windows dining room extension facing N has 3
French windows and sash windows to 1st floor with 6/6 panes. S side of
rear wing has 2 recessed sash windows to 1st floor with 6/8 panes. C18
6-panels fielded door with lean-to slated porch on 2 heavy Greek Doric
columns to left of triple sash window under deep red brick gauged arch
with 1/2:4/8:1/2 panes. Single-storey tall kitchen to W of cross-passage
served by door. Outside N door of passage is a shelter over a well with
large iron steam-pump still complete. Formal W front to S wing. 5
windows long in red and grey brick and flat arches to sash windows with
6/6 panes and plastered reveals. Triple sash 1/2:4/8:1/2 to ground floor
at left. S gable end has corner pilasters and projecting central chimney
with 2 round arched recesses and 2 3-light casement windows.
