The Ramblers
GV II
House, at one time an inn and 2 or more dwellings. Early C18, reroofed,
extended and altered in C19. Timber frame. Panelled rendering, some
weatherboarding. Slate roof, some pantiles. 3 cell lobby entry. 2
storeys and cellar. Plinth. Ground floor: entrance to left of centre, 6
fielded panelled door with original architrave, pulvinated frieze and
pediment, to left a 24 pane horizontal sliding sash, to right 16 pane
sashes, 1 horizontal. First floor three 18 pane horizontal sliding
sashes, all in flush moulded frames. Sprocket eaves. Rebuilt cross axial
stack behind entrance. Original and C19 plates and later purlins exposed
on right end. To rear is a 2 bay 2 storey weatherboarded wing, 2 doors
with bracketed hoods, 2 light casements, pantiled roof. Lean-to outshut
to rear. Interior not inspected. Formerly the King William Public House.
