Gatepiers. c1700. Red brick with stone dressings. Square plan,
moulded bases, rusticated quoins, architrave with bead and pellet
enrichment, deep moulded cornice, stepped and chamfered pyramidal cap
with goblet finial. Brick pilastered rebates for gates, the left
pilaster retaining a scrolled capital. In a drawing made in 1720 by
Samuel Buck these gatepiers are shown standing opposite the garden-front
entrance to Boynton Hall. Samuel Buck's Yorkshire Sketch Book,
