SD 81 SE ROCHDALE CALDERSHAW LANE

6/39 Ellenrod Farmhouse

II

Farmhouse. Late C17 with extensive alterations and re-
facing of late C19. Ashlar with watershot stone to left
gable and coursed stone to rear and right gable. Stone
slate roof. 2 rooms deep by 2 rooms wide with a central
entrance to front and rear. The rear rooms are of the C17
building whereas the front are C19. Rear elevation: the
central doorway has ovolo-moulded jambs and head. To the
right on each floor is a 5-light double-chamfered mullion
window with hood mould, to the left of 3-lights. The left
hand ground floor window has a 2-light fire window attached
and a 2-light window has been re-used to light the landing
of a stair which was inserted during the Victorian alterations as was
another opening to supply a coal hole below the stair.
Stone plinth, quoins and kneelers. The interior has ovolo-
moulded beams to the rear rooms.
