Group of 3 cottages. Possibly C16/C17, with C18 and later modifications. Ham stone, the north wing in ashlar below with
rubble above, the south crosswing in rubble; thatched roofs with gables; brick chimney stacks. T-plan, two storeys,
5-bay west elevation. C20 casement windows, mostly small-pane, but with horizontal bars to bay 5 and French doors lower
bays 1 and 2; part-glazed door under hood in angle formed by crosswing to right of bay 5; against west gable of
crosswing a mounting block of 4 steps. On south side 4 bays of casement windows, with door set in glazed porch to lower
bay 1. Interior not seen, but reported is a wide fireplace, circular stair and chamfered crossbeams with step and
runout steps, west end of crosswing, otherwise crosswing much modified. Along west boundary, about 9 metres from house,
with return to south-west corner, arrowhead railings set on low stone wall, with arch-braced urn-capped standards, and
pairs of gates opposite bay 2 of Rose Cottage and near south-west corner, all adding to setting of houses. Included
primarily for group value with Church of St. John the Evangelist and All Saints (q.v) and the cottage 50 metres east of
the Church (q.v) which is immediately north of Rose Cottage. (VAG Report, unpublished SRO, February 1977).
