Road bridge over stream, the most westerly in a series of 3. 1799/1800. Ham stone cut and squared. Single semi-circular
arch; plain level parapet with shaped coping; no features at west end, continued eastwards towards Ilton Bridge No 2
(q.v.) with walls to same height, but with flaunching, not coping stones. Bridge constructed by Ilminster Trust. This
road from Curry Rivel to Chard, via Ilminster, became turnpiked in 1759. (Bentley JB and Murless BJ, Somerset Roads,
SIAS, 1985).
