The Village Pump and wall

Pump. C19. Cast-iron pump and trough; cut and squared local stone back wall. Pump has circular shaft with 2 ring
collars and circular base plate; upper cylinder of great diameter, with heavy cast-iron spout on west side with bucket
hook and laurel leaf decoration, top missing; knob handle on east side; cast-iron trough on west side. Backing wall
roughly semi-circular with a semi-circular arched recess, now blocked, possibly for original spring, and on top is set
the bell hip cap of a former gate pier. Pump bears a cast iron plaque of Hutchings, Plumer, Ilminster.
