churchyard one metre West of
porch, Church of St Mary

Chest tomb. Early C17. Sandstone and blue lias. Flat topped, cavetto moulded cornice, sunk plinth, inscribed on all
faces in fine lettering but rust South face has been removed and a blue lias panel inserted. Earliest inscription on
North face to John Garett, died 1618. Forms part of a group of early, finely inscribed chest tombs with the Prior
family chest tomb (qv).
