Shown on OS map at corner of Egremont Hotel, some 20 metres to the South but now resited. Market cross. C14. Red
sandstone. Square socket with broached corners, remains of tapering octagonal shaft with similar broaches, much eroded;
in all about one metre high. Pooley illustrates it with a carved stone capping, reputed to belong to the original
cross; this same piece of capping was at time of survey (December 1983) lying to the North East of Washford Mission
Church, Old Cleeve CP. Scheduled Ancient Monument (Somerset County No 247). (Pooley, Old Crosses of Somerset, 1877).
