On the corner with Martins Close and detached from the rest of Improvement Place.
No 1 is the last surviving mid C19 2 storey cottage at end of a terrace. Stucco
front with incised coursing detail. Tile roof, hipped to left with dormer facing
south. Projecting eaves. 1 window with incised lintel per storey. Sashes, thin
glazing bars. Doorway to left of front with open pediment and pilasters. Round-headed
fanlight and 6-panel door. Lean-to extension on south side projects into lane.
