Drinking Trough, The Broadway
GV II
Drinking trough, now disused. 1875. Granite. Sited in the open
area at the front of The Broadway. The main horse-trough is a
plain rectangular stone basin supported at each end on a plain
stone block. Below it is a shallow trough set at ground level.
Across the front 'BE MERCIFUL TO MAN AND BEAST 'is cut in
large letters. On the side, a metal plate bears the words
'Presented to this Borough by Lady Bunbury Novr 1875'. On the
outer side on the left is a small basin; the metal fittings
and tap are missing.
