Circa 1870 and at least in part by H R Yeoville Thomason. Stone, large building
of 3 builds. The centrepiece 3 storeys plus basement and attic; 6 bays, the centre
4 advanced and demarcated by giant Corinthian pilasters through first and second
floors. Ground floor with banded rustication, 4 windows and the etched entrances
left and right set in shallow porches carrying balconies to the lst floor window.
First floor with 6 windows, plain in the outer bays but with moulded heads in the
inner bays. Second floor window similar, though those of the outer bays are here
seen to be within a shallow eared recess that embraces also the first floor windows.
In the frieze, 6 small oval attic window. Boldly bracketted cornice to the centre
4 bays and attic pediment above. Left and right of this centrepiece 2 similar wings,
as it were, each, 4-storeyed plus basement and 5 bays wide. In both, the ground floor
has banded rustication and arched windows; the first floor has a central window with
segmental pediment; the second floor has segment-headed windows; the third floor has
windows in eared moulded surrounds and a bracketted eaves cornice. Behind the
centrepiece, a fine banking hall 9 bays long in the rhythm 2: 5:2 by 5 bays wide. Tall
arched bays with Corinthianesque pilasters and 4 Corinthianesque columns carried on
corbels; entablature and coved ceiling with coffers and central shallow dome.
