Circa 1885-90. Corner site public house with return to Northwood Street. Three
storey red brick main block with 2 storey rear wing set at angle along Northwood
Street. Good Birmingham cut brick detailing and ornament. Panelled pilastered
painted public house front with deep fascia and cornice curved round to return
front. Bevelled corner to upper floors. Gable end tiled roof with pierced ridge
tiles. Tall first floor and squat second floor. Moulded brick sill courses.
Three bay front, one bay gable end and 6 bay wing. Segmental arched first floor
sash windows with glazing bars to upper sash, finely gauged arches with keystones,
dripmoulds. Rounded brick edging to reveals. Blind panels of slender brick
balustrading below sills. Top floor has terracotta panels with festoons alternating
with windows. Pediment to second floor window in gable end with losenges and
moulded brick eaves. Fluted and moulded brick work to eaves of wing with brick
cornice over ground floor where the windows have moulded brick architraves.
