Country house. Early C17 much remodelled and extended C19 and early C20.
Ironstone ashlar, slate roofs, various internal stone stacks. 2 storeys and
attic. Entrance front has C19 grey sandstone gabled porch to left of centre with
large 5-light stone mullion and transom hall window to right and 3-light stone
mullion windows above porch, flanked by gabled bays, that to left with C19 bay
window and 3-light arch mullion window with hood mould above, that to right with
similar windows. Later 2-storey-and-attic, 3-window service wing to right with
bay window and back door. 4-window garden front to south has 3-light stone
arch-mullion windows to ground and first floors and similar smaller windows to
attic in continuous row of gabled dormers with ball finials. Rear elevation to
west has 3-light arch mullion windows with hood moulds to first floor left and
right. In centre a group of similar 2-light window flanked by one-light windows
with similar heads, central stepped gable above, with coat of arms. Gables
either side with 3-light arch mullion windows with hood moulds and ball finials.
Service wing to left. Interior mostly C19 and early C20 with double-height
staircase hall.
