House. Late C17, remodelled C18, additions C19. Brick and roofs of mixed
slate, pantiles, plain tiles and stone flags. T plan. South front of 2
storeys and symmetrical. Central door flanked by one full height bay right
and left. Bays are additions of 1920. One 4-light cross casement each floor
with metal framed windows. Bays terminate in rounded Dutch gables. Gabled
roof. East and west returns with Dutch gables, that to east truncated by
straight gable to northern half. 2 blocked windows to each floor of east
gable wall. To north 2 storey 3 bay refacing : central panelled door beneath
glazed overlight. Set-off at first floor. 5 late C18 sash windows with
glazing bars under segmental arches with keystones. Gabled roof with internal
gable stacks. West front dominated by 2 round-headed windows lighting stair-
case and hall, with glazing bars. One C17 3-light cross casement window
survives to ground floor. Further 2 storeyed gabled kitchen and service range
added to north in C19. Interior with open well staircase of c.1700 : open
cut staircase with floral scrolled tread ends. 3 balusters to each tread
with square section bases and heads. 3 ball turns lead into fluted or plain
turned shafts. Ramped handrail wreathed to lower newel. Newels are fluted
columns. Dado of stairwell panelled and with fluted pilasters. First floor
landing balustrade with same details.
