Farmhouse. Late C16, mid C17, altered C18, C19, C20. Timber
framed, brick-nogged: stone bases to 2 chimneys; brick rebuild to
front, and rear extension: tiled roof. H plan, rear yard infilled
later: 2 storeys. Rear elevation, towards farmyard: gable on
left. Ground floor rebuilt in brick, 3-light casement on left,
boarded door on right. Above close-studded timber-framing, storey-
height: blocked central window, 3-light casement to left. Collar
and tie-beam gable, close studded. Two external brick chimneys
left return. To right projecting later dairy, English garden wall
bond brickwork: boarded door left return, two 2-light casements
facade. Stone chimney base rises from roof, 2 diamond-set brick
stacks above. To right gable: steps down to boarded door to
cellar. Above close-studded timber-framing, 2-panel high per
floor. External brick stack on right side gable: small window to
ground floor left, 2-light casement first and gable: last with
multiple 'V' struts in panels. Right return, close studded 2-panel
high timber-framing to ground floor, square framing 3-panel high
above. Projecting stone chimney base with plinth right of centre:
ground floor to left 3-light casement in part of former larger
window: blocked window to right. First floor same, with single-
light window in addition against chimney on left. Above 2 brick
stacks, with diamond panels decorated fleur-de-lys in link.
Internally: some exposed timber-framed walls: steeply cambered
arch to blocked door in left wing. Central room and front right
wide chamfer to ceiling beams, pyramid stops: large fireplaces,
1643 fireback in front room. Rear room, and first floor, right
wing, hollow chamfers to ceiling beams. Queen-strut truss to
right wing, 2 pairs purlins, curved braces, square ridge. Centre
and right wing added to earlier left. Forms group with barn and
cowhousing (q.v.).
