Identified on SO 760 SW as Poplar Farm. Detached dwelling, reputed to have been
coaching inn. C17. Thin brick with wide joints, concrete tile roof. A long narrow
structure with main stack in three diminishing widths on plan, right of centre and
opposite entry. Two storeys and attic, 3-windowed, very wide spaced; 2-light
casements under wood lintols. Off-centre, right, 6-panel door of which 2 glazed,
moulded architrave, modern porch. North facing gable (left) blocked opening with 4
pane wood light to attic space, 4-light casement to first floor and 3-light to ground
floor, both these with stone mullions and surround 'buttered over' with cement; brick
string courses at each floor level. Similar 3-light modified stone mullion window
first floor centre, back. A second entry under modern porch, back. Interior: roll
mould beam in ground floor centre room, newel stair centre, left. Double purlin
roof. Premises appear to have been constructed in two stages; the last bay, right,
beyond main stack, added: straight joint visible, front, and slight joggle in wall,
back.
