Farmhouse. C17. Squared and coursed stone, concrete tile roof, but some double roman
tile on reverse slope. L-plan, stacks, finished in brick, to coped gables, main
entrance to thoroughway immediately left of gable, adjoining wing. Later gabled wing
added inside the L. Two storeys, attics, part basement (under wing, left). North
elevation, 4-windowed, 2-light stone mullioned under continuous drip to stops at each
level, but second window at each level blocked. East elevation, in gable two 2-light
mullioned under common drip at ground and first floor, single 2-light at second floor,
and Cotswold oval stone oculus to apex of gable, which is in two different pitches;
one first floor window blocked; in wing to loft, 2-light mullioned under timber
lintol and over blocked doorway, plus 2-light at eaves over 1-light beside 6-panel
door, part glazed, set in deep reveal: this door and single light window included
under continuous drip to ground floor windows to right.
Interior: straight C18 oak stain with moulded risers, square newel posts with bal
finial; in ground floor room, left, in 'old' wing, fine open fire with solid stone
cheeks, and spiral stair. Many panelled doors; modern door at end of through passage
in heavy frame. Stone floored basement under 'old' wing. Original roof structure.
