Former town house, now offices in row. cl?40. Ashlar front,
random rubble limestone to sides and rear; ashlar chimneys; stone
slate roof. Three-storey with cellar. Classical style. Front:
4-window fenestration all with moulded architraves, keystones and
bull-nosed sills; 12-pane sashes to ground and middle floor,
keystones linking with string course and, to middle floor, running
into modillion cornice. Upper floor 9-pane sashes have keystones
extended up parapet, centre 2 with urns above. Giant corner
pilasters have short attic pilasters above topped by larger carved
gadrooned urns. Pedimented doorway with moulded architraves in
third bay has later glazed doors with rectangular light above.
Parapet-mounted chimney to either side, one having modillion
enriched cap. Double pitched roof with 2 hipped ends behind front
parapet, 2 gables to rear. Rear: mixed sash and casement
fenestratiion.
Interior: one fine panelled room with fluted Ionic pilasters to
chimneypiece. Attached spear-topped railings have gates giving
access to ramps down to round arched cellar openings. The finest
town house in High Street.
