GV II
Former mill house with attached row of houses, now 4 houses. Part
dated 1683; extended early C19; altered and sub-divided late C19.
Random and coursed rubble limestone; ashlar and artificial stone
rebuilt chimneys; stone and concrete tile roof. Two-storey with
attic; return block at west end linking with former detached
house. Front: 4 gables to main block, one with original mullioned
casements below, 4-light to ground floor, 3-light upper floor and
2-light to attic. Mixed 2 and 3-light C19 restored casements to
right. No 4 is early C19 addition to west end with 2-window
segmental arched casement fenestration, all leaded; larger central
attic casement in gable. Doorways to Nos 5 and 6 are probably
alterations of Cl9, both having carved datestones above. Sundial
to No 6. Cl9 wing at west end runs back to link with formerly
detached house, this having various 4-pane sashes, 2 in eaves-level
dormers, one smaller centrally below eaves. Various ridge-mounted
chimneys, one at centre of main range very large - now with rebuilt
top. Interiors not inspected. Said to have initials of Edward and
Mary Pinfold, clothiers in late Cl7 and early C18.
