Stables and coach house. 1852 by H. Woodyer for T. Gambier-Parry.
Squared, coursed lias, ashlar dressings, tiled roof; rear slope
concrete tiles. Five bays, one room deep, lofted. Single window
to right, stone surround, C20 iron frame inside. Two cambered
arches, circular column centre, matching responds; stone sett
paving to recess behind, boarded door on each return and right end
of rear wall, all with rounded jambs: 3-light window to left of
rear wall. Two-light window to left of arches, double boarded
doors to eaves level beyond, wall continued on left as a buttress
to gable. Dated cast-iron rain-water head. Above, large,
weatherboarded gable in centre, cambered head to doorway, door
missing 1986, weathervane on gable apex: wooden ridge ventilator
to right.
Interior: loose box on right, 3-stall stable centre, stone-sett
floor, troughs, partitions, iron corner hay racks survive, last
with boarded chute from floor above, an unusual survival. Harness
room and coach house to left. Forms group with Old Rectory (q.v.).
