4/11 Church Farmhouse

GV II


Farmhouse. Late C16-early C17, altered and extended C19. Square-
panelled timber framing with brick infill, visible in gable ends of
main body, remainder of gable ends and entrance front painted
brick. Later extensions in red brick (now painted white). Red
tile roof. Projecting stacks at gable ends of main body, coursed
squared and dressed limestone, with brick shafts (both restored at
top). Rectangular main body with C19 extensions at right-angles at
rear. Main body; 2 storeys with 2-windowed entrance front. Two
3-light C19 casements to first floor. Similar casements within
segmental-headed surrounds to ground floor. C20 part-glazed lean-
to porch at centre. Blocked exterior access to former bread oven
with brick arch visible in projecting stack at left gable end.
Single star shaped shaft at left gable end, twin star-shaped stack
at right gable end of main body. Projecting stack from C19
extension at rear. Interior not accessible. This building lies in
close proximity to the Church of St. Nicholas and could possibly
have once functioned as the rectory.
