SO 91 NW BADGEWORTH LITTLE WITCOMBE

4/27 Chestnut Cottage

GV ll

Detached cottage. Late C16-early C17 and C20. Square-panelled
timber-framing and limestone rubble; C20 extension rendered;
thatched roof with decorative ridge thatching; brick stacks. 'L'-
shaped main body with projecting bread oven at the south-east
corner and a C20 extension to the north-facing gable. 1½ storeys.
Two-light C20 wooden casement to the ground floor of the main body;
similar 2-light eyebrow dormer above. C20 two-light casements with
glazing bars to the C20 extension. C20 plank door to main body
although the original entry may be via the south gable end.
Interior: open fireplace; bread oven opening off the fireplace
with a cast iron door made by the Coalbrookdale Co.; beam with
deep flat chamfer and stepped stops. Early plank door to bedroom.
