Two barns. 1632 (datestone), C18, C19. Coursed, squared stone
to main barn, squared rubble lesser one, stone slate roof, back
slopes tiled. Five-bay barn with central porch one side; 3-bay
barn on right end, with projecting loose box. Facing house: main
barn, plinth, 2-light mullion window on left; deep porch, front
wall extended each side as buttress: double, sheet metal doors,
chamfered arris, plain impost blocks, 4-centred arch with dated
keystone. Timber lintel inside just below crown of arch.
Parapet gable, cross-gablet apex with fleur-de-lys finial. To
right wall hidden by lean-to, not of special interest. Parapet
gables to barn, cross-gablet apices. To right, slightly lower
barn, small boarded door with stone lintel in blocking to
threshing-floor doors. Projecting wing on right, boarded stable
door in gable, square opening above, both with stone lintels.
Interior: main barn tie beam trusses, angled struts to collars, 2
pairs butt purlins, curved wind braces to upper purlins over
threshing floor, missing (1986) on side opposite porch. Struts to
truss on left of threshing floor also missing. Porch 2 bays long,
queen-strut trusses. Dates and scratch markings on stonework by
inner end porch: cupboard recess, adjoining. Bays filled with
silos. Small barn inserted lofts to both ends, one removed before
1986; queen strut trusses, 2 pairs purlins, plank ridge. Forms
group with house (q.v.). Said to contain reset C12 window.
