Barn, stable , outbuilding, and shelter shed. Early C18 and late C18
with C19 additions. Timber frame with weatherboard cladding on brick
plinth; red brick with some blue headers in Flemish and Flemish garden
wall bonds. Plain tile roofs. 4-bay barn (possibly originally with 5th
bay on right) extended by 2 bays on left in C19, and with late-C18 3-bay
wing with loft projecting forward on right, to front of which is lower
C19 addition. C19 3-bay shelter shed to rear of 3 left bays, adjoining
extended rear midstray. Double board door to cart entry with stable
door and small window to right and on left a board door with 2 windows
to left (1 blocked) and 1 to right. Wing is of brick, with stable door
to front and weatherboard gable below half-hip, Outstanding adjoining
has 2 board door to left return, left one under segmental brick arch;
stepped eaves;, and half-hipped gable above square vents forming lounge.
Rear: midstray has double board doorand hipped gable open-front shelter
shed has arch-braced posts and half-hipped roof. Barn rear wall is of
brick. Blocked loading hatchway to wing. Right return: wing has S-
shaped ends of tie-rods and board loading hatch. Interior: barn has
jowelled posts, straight braces to tie-beams, raked queen struts
clasping through purlins, old rafters and wind-braces, later plank
ridge. Queen strut roof trusses and wind braces to brick wing. Braced
king-post trusses to C19 sections. Included for group value.
