Late C18, early.C19. Symmetrical pair of cottages with an extension at the north end,
slightly recessed; facade (north-west) of 2 storeys, 1-2 windows. Slate roof, walls
of flint with flush brick dressings; quoins, vertical bands, vertical panels
containing the openings (original cambered to No 7, later larger square to No 6), bands
to eaves first floor and plinth, all now colourwashed. Casements to No 7, sashes to
No 6 and a wide angular bay at the north side. Boarded doors in solid frames beneath
hoods, with arch-braced gables on curved brackets the south-west gable has an attic
window in the brickwork gable, the wall below being divided by 2 vertical flint
panels, with a central ground-floor angular bay on brackets, with a tiled roof.
Modern outshot along the rear. Above the doorway of No 6 is a moulded rectangular
plaque with an oval inset inscribed "The Little White Tenement next the Mill Built by
Mr Joseph Portal as a residence for the Bank Officer 1785".
