Hill House Farmhouse
II
C16, C17, C20. A house of 3 parts, the largest tallest centrepiece being of the mid
C17, of 2 storeys and attic. Red tile roof, hipped to the south and 1/2-hipped to the
north, with a massive stack on the east side with shafted flues. The north wall of
English bond brickwork has a second floor band with cornice mouldings above dentils, a
first-floor band with a base moulding (broken in the centre). To the east is the older
lower block with a brick and tile exterior masking the partially-surviving timber
frame, and a stack at the east side (within are 2 Tudor fireplaces with plastered
mouldings). The recent west block is similar to the east in materials and form.
Casements. Old solid doorframe. Inside, there are main beams panelled on the
underside, a timber-framed cross wall, and much old flooring.
