A C17 timber-framed and plastered house built on an L-shaped plan with wings extending north-east and south-east. The south-east wing is faced in red brick with end pilasters 2 storeys. 3 window range on the south-west front. The windows on the ground storey are paired. 2 window range on the north-west front. The windows are casements. Roofs tiled, with a small gablet at the north-west end and an original cruciform chimney stack: (RCHM 38).

Brook House, Moss Rose Cottage and Hill Rise Cottage, Down House, Swan Cottage and Porters Hall form a group. (Moss Rose Cottage and Hill Rise Cottage, and Down House are buildings of local interest).
