HAWKESBURY BUSH LANE
BELLS HILL ROAD, Vange
Hawkesbury Manor

II

House. Mid to late C18, rendered in C19. Timber-framed and weatherboarded with two-span,
hipped and tiled roofs; brick lateral stacks to roof valley. 2 storeys, 3-window range, single
window to returns and scattered fenestration to rear. Sash boxes of an Cl8 design, the windows
of later pattern. Quoin strips to corners and windows. Entrance in centre of south, principal
elevation, set in a Tuscan aedicule surround. Double-pile plan, with entrance-stair hall, flanked
by parlours. At the time of inspection all plaster and lathe had been removed from the interior
walls and ceilings, and the first-floor floorboards taken up, revealing a sawn-wood balloon flame
set within a morticed framework of larger sawn-wood timbers forming sole, storey and walls
plates and comer uprights.
