House C17 remodelled with rear extension in early C19 ,Timber
framed and rendered externally. Slate hipped roof. 2
symmetrically placed red brick stacks on front range and one to
rear range. Two range vertical sliding sash windows 8:8 with
marginal, glazing and moulded architrave surround. Central
pilastered doorcase with key pattern and entablature with canopy
window over. Door four panelled with two stained glass lights.
Remnants of wooden verandah with glazed roof; wooden posts with
ogee spandrels and trellis work. Front range consists of a three
bay house aligned N-S with narrow central bay. South bay (R.H)
transverse and axial binding joists. Chamfered with lambs tongue
stops. Floor joists covered with plaster ceilings. Good oak frame
with deep jowled storey posts. Evidence for fully pegged close
studded walls with wattle housings. Face halved and bladed scarf
in front wall plate. Original wide oak lap jointed floor joists
to first floor and part attic. Original roof lost in C19
remodelling although many timbers re-used. Present stairs housed
in part of original stair tower. Vertical sliding shutters remain
in north ground floor room. Pilastered arch between staircase and
landing.
