House, C16, altered in C18 and C19. Timber framed, plastered, roofed with
handmade red clay tiles. 3 bays aligned NE-SW with axial chimney stack, and
external chimney stack at NE end, upper half rebuilt in C20. 3-bay crosswing
to SW with external chimney stack on SW wall. Both parts were jettied to the
SE originally, now underbuilt. Aspect SE. Stair tower behind NE end with
gabled roof, single-storey extension behind SW bay of main range, and lean-to
between, forming a catslide roof. Single-storey extension to SW. 2 storeys
with attics. 6-panel flush door, the top panels glazed, 2 C20 casement windows
one double-hung sash window of 12 lights, and 2 C19 bays of sash windows. First
floor, one C19 oriel with tented roof, one bay over bay below, and 2 sash
windows of 4 lights, late C19. Axial chimney stack has 3 octagonal shafts,
shortened. The interior has some exposed framing, one original unglazed window
with 4 diamond mullions in the rear wall, and in the crosswing one beam with
single ogee moulding and chamfered joists of horizontal section with lamb's
tongue stops. The first floor of the crosswing has straight rising braces
inside the studs, and an original window in the SW wall, with 3 ovolo mullions
and 3 diamond bars. RCHM 11.
