House. Late C17, altered in C20. Timber framed, mainly plastered with some
weatherboarding, roofed thatched. 4 bays facing SW, with axial stack one bay
from left end, and external stack at right end. Single-storey extension with
slate roof to rear of left end. One storey with attics. 3 early C20 sashes of
16 lights and one more in slated swept dormer. C20 plain boarded door. Roof
half-hipped at both ends. The interior has chamfered axial beams with lamb's
tongue stops, and thin joists originally plastered to the soffits, now stripped.
Face-halved and bladed scarf in rear wallplate, front wallplate splinted. The
owners have a continuous series of leases and deeds from the manor of Nicholls
from 1738.
